Trees -dragonxp's project
Crappy drawing for illustration purposes only, and not meant to be a final sprite. I'm sure I'm not the first to think we could make them. What I was thinking is pin the bottom part of the trunk, and stack attachables all the way up. Make wood splinter wounds, and leaf gibs, and lastly maybe use some lua to make the attachables be able to rotate to some degree off the parent? Maybe I'm just not seeing some vary obvious reason why we can't do this.

Re: Trees
It'd basically be like the obelisk, and if you made it, I'd love to use it.

Re: Trees
As soon as I saw this I immediately thought of this devpost and the tree picture in it: http://devlog.datarealms.com/cortex-com ... x-command/"None shall pass!" These would be pretty cool.

Re: Trees
yes that's the idea, the trick will be overcoming the problems listed in the illustration. I think once we have a working prototype the lua gods might bless this project with some sparkle magic.

Re: Trees
Well, I'd say this would be a nice piece of destructible scenery, even if you don't make a magic tree that breaks but doesn't block people, and bends, and so on. I just went back and looked at that post again, and it reminded me of something. Would it be possible to make part of the tree, maybe the lower half, able to be passed through by actors? I know it can be done somehow...

Re: Trees
Yes its possible but I think it should be a obstacle or there's no point to being destructable.

Re: Trees
Or you could make particles and ACrafts to hit the tree and actors to NOT hit the tree.
