Just pix for now. Since most of the troops are busy getting torn to shreds by the Necrons (and the base's internet connection is busted... AGAIN), this Guardsman thought he'd try out some of the weapons while he's alone. So far, I've made a Guardsman (with significant help from Ork-Gothic) Cadia and Kentrael Pattern Lasguns, a Mars Pattern Shotgun, a Laspistol, a Kentrael Pattern LongLas and a Rocket Launcher. Also, Frag and Krak grenades. The guardsman's shoulder offsets are still a bit off (you can plainly see that in the rocket demonstration-Second post... damned size limit), but I'll fix that soon. But, on to the credits: The guardsman sprites were made by Ivan, the sounds were "harvested" by War_man, Duh showed me how to make continuous lasers, Inuyashe fixed the LongLas damage and Ork-Gothic put the hands in the right place. Oh, and not to forget the people who had the patience to answer my questions: Miles_T3h_R4t, Flammablezombie, piipu and numgun And those who were brutally mistreated by beta-testing this: Boba Fett, WingWolf, Inuyashe and War_man.

Ok. I need opinions on sprites. The first one is the classic Plasma Gun, the Cadian issue Magnacore, and the second one is a combination of the Games Workshop version and the handle I gave every single other Imperial weapon I've ever made. Which is better? (and before anyone makes any smart-ass remarks about the fact that I should upload pix as .jpgs, the last time I did that, the colors got a bit... fudged up)

Classic one looks more original but the stock looks wierd on it. T-like stock doesn't look good. |

Unless you like (most likely) burning hydrogen, glass shards and white-hot pieces of metal on your shoulder, I wouldn't recommend using it to aim the thing (read: the guardsman fires the gun from the hip even in sharp aim.) Also: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Plasma_gun But I guess I could remove the thing, then it would stop looking odd when used with the Plasma Trooper. |

As soon as it's decent enough (read: proper explosions and gibs) and I make a Sentinel plus a couple of more actors and weapons. But one of the actors will have to wait 'till Ivan's back, as I doubt I can sprite big, muscle-y arms too well. Also, a slight update, besides the fact that I got the mod to work again.

What do you mean by "They do not look like the Imperial Guard"? Ivan sprited those actors, I just coded them and made (i.e. also sprited) the weapons. And Ivan's sprites are pure win, as usual. |

What I think he means is that the actor shown in the gifs looks quite different from the cadian imperial guardsmen we are used to see (both in the tabletop game and Dawn of War) due mainly to the ovesized things that I think are supposed to look like the imperial eagle you've got on him, the fact that the helmet is covering his eyes (looks weird), and the antenna on the helmet. It's still a good actor, it's just that it doesn't look 100% like the real thing |

So the antennas must go. About the helmet covering the eyes... look at the lasgun demonstration to see what would happen if I'd move the helmet a single pixel up. But, if he looks better like that, I'll adjust accordingly. Can't do that with the Plasma Trooper's helmet, though, because, well... But I will delete the antennas.
