This is just an idea I've had mulling about in my head for a bit, and I'm going to use it to get back into modding (haven't done anything since skeletons could stomp their way to the brain)

I don't mind digging for gold too much, but once there is none left on the map you're pretty much sol except for collecting weapons off the map. Basically what I want to make is a compactor that you throw weapons from the battlefield into, and once you reach a certain number, it crushes it, spits out a block that you send up for gold.

Ideally the compactor would note the gold values of the things coming in, sum them up upon compaction and kick out a block with a multiple of that value to make it worthwhile to go through the process at all.

I'm looking at the storage crate as a starting point since its a stationary container that you can store things in. I realize its not an original idea, but it'll be good practice. Could anyone just point me to some other mods that might do me well to study their code?

Or it could just spit out a gold chunk equal to the things weight?

The Cauldron does the same thing but it doesn't spit, it just make the objects diseapper(<-huh?) and transform it into gold.I think

That does simplify things a bit. The main reason I hate collecting stuff with a dropship is that it gets shot down so easily. I'm going to attempt to make the gold brick that's spit out be an object that can be picked up and add gold to your funds rather than having to dig it.

why not let it just be gold? Or you could have it be a floppy disk called SCRAP METAL CREDITS. You put it into another machine and it gives you whatever the thing was worth.
