Post USMC Faction
Ok, I've got a USMC faction in the works, started this morning. Basically some mediocre coalition resprites with MARPAT camo, slightly different equipment and some of Ivan's face sprites (Modified) because I can't sprite faces or anything else very well.

STATUS:
On hold

UPDATES SECTION:
Added M1014, M14 DMR, both are subject to change.
Attachment:
Sprites.bmp [9.1 KiB]
Downloaded 177 times

Background is white to avoid eye-rape.
Mags go M9 mag, MP5 Mag, 100 round C-mag (To be omitted), 30, 20, 10 round STANAGS, 200 round belt, 20 round 7.62 NATO mag, 40mm 203 grenade

EDIT: Gonna expand this to include limited use weaponry

Green =Code and sprites done
Yellow = Sprite done
Blue = Code done
Red = Neither done

Actors:
Rifleman
Squad Leader
Medic
Force Recon or some special branch of the USMC, don't know how Force Recon would be distinguishable.
Pilot (Possibly)
Redoing the sprites a bit, due to bad colouration

Pistols:
M9 Beretta
MEU(SOC) Pistol based on the 1911, but I think it's only issued to Force Recon.

Sub-Machine Guns:
MP5
MP5SD6

Shotguns:
M1014 (+EOTech)
M870

Assault Rifles:
M16A4 - Ironsights, relatively accurate
M16A4/Aimpoint - A bit more accurate than base A4, slightly longer sharp range
M16A4/ACOG - ACOG sight, significantly more accurate, longer sharp range
M16A4/ACOG/M203 - Speaks for its self, M16A4 with an ACOG sight and an underbarrel grenade launcher.
M4A1, variants (+M203, EOTech, Silenced etc.)

Machine Guns:
M249 SAW (+ELCAN, Aimpoint)
M240 (+ELCAN)
M60E3 (+Aimpoint)

Sniping Rifles:
M14 DMR
M40 (oops, M24 was Army, not Marines)

MK12 SPR
or
SR25
OR...
M110 SASS

Launchers:
M136
Javelin - There is a very low possibility of this

Equipment:
Ka-Bar
Shovel
Morphine
Bandages
(Using modified Azukki's L4D medkit and pill code, with permission)

Craft (VERY UNLIKELY):
UH1-Y Venom(ACRocket)
MV22 Osprey (ACDropship)
There will be units that come equipped and unarmed units which you outfit yourself.
The only problem I have so far is not getting the camouflage to look right. At the moment it just looks like paste, even though there are 5 different colours used. I lifted the colours from a .jpeg image of the desert MARPAT camouflage and put them in palette. I'm considering making them Woodland instead, but then they'd look too similar to the Coalition.

Anyway, after this I might make some generic Middle-Eastern terrorists and weapons to go with, or maybe something like the PLA, provided I finish this in the first place.

I'll post some pics tomorrow, once I've got a bit more stuff done.

If the camo's blending, consider using more contrasting, dramatic colours than are present in real life. It'll help make it looks more pixelly and erratic (which will make it look like actual, you know, camo).

Yeah, I think I'll scrap the accuracy I was going for in the first place. As long as it looks like some form of camouflage I don't think anyone will be too fussed.

Updated main post with spritesheet of weapons completed so far. Mags on the bottom go left-right in capacity; 200 round M249 belt, 100 round beta-C mag, 30, 20, 10 round STANAG mags (Not sure if 10 round ones exist but adding it in there anyway)

You don't like ze C-mag?
I'll take it out

Ok, next 5 posters please vote whether I should use digitized camo or change it to old blobby camo like the British DPM uses, can't remember the American counterpart.

EDIT: If I get enough of this done and I feel like doing so, I'll expand the arsenal even more to include all the weapons fielded by the US Army and Marines, and some that are out of service, things like the CAR15 and HK416. Gonna call it a night for now though. I'm not sure how much I'll be working on it tomorrow, but I will, hopefully.

Nice sprites. Can you upload the rifleman and squad leader? Sound like an interesting thing if you can make them different.

It's a crappy design that jams often and isn't worth the extra capacity at all.

And it's ♥♥♥♥ akward to hold, weighs down the front end of your gun, and is generally shitty. If I remember right, it's even made of fairly weak plastic.

Grif is a Real American Hero (R) who knows his firearms.
For a dropship, why not an Osprey rather than a UH-1? It'll work better with the whole two-engines thing, and I believe that they're used as Marine insertion vehicles sometimes.
Then again, I am not a Real American Hero (R), and don't know military stuff.

Yeah, I didn't think it'd fit in because it's rarely, if ever, used in combat

If I decide to learn Lua I'll put it in, but make it jam every few shots :v:

I'll take screens of the Marines once I sort their arms out, and I'll re-do the camouflage after I've sprited the weapons.

This is a good idea, actually. Thing is, I've never made so much as a simple resprite of a craft since I started modding CC, so it's pretty much the lowest on the priority list for now.

Thanks for the positive feedback guise :D

Until the game uses Lua, I think I'll just have the M16s use single fire but at a high fire rate and the M4s at full auto, just so they're not the same weapon but with slightly differing accuracy.

This could be half-decent if this guy has actually put effort into this.

Updated with latest weapon sprites, I'm going to start working on the weapons that AREN'T just resprites of a base M16 now.
