Well there's something on the crab that says "Animode = 4", so... what do the others do? Does it matter what class it's in, and how many are there?

spriteanimmode = 4 - this causes the sprite to only animate when the actor is walking
spriteanimmode = 1 - animates foreever in order
spriteanimmode = 0 - once in order
spriteanimmode = 2 - randomly forever

cant remember the others..

not that i know of, no.
you could try it, but i dont think it'll work. you could use an animating attachable to get the job done though.
