I've been thinking of ways to make rockets more efficient against doors (I.E. The only damage doors seem to take is the impact of the rocket, and the shrapnel all flies back towards the man who fired it) and the best thing I could come up with was that the rocket explodes when X#ofpixels away from the door.

Now, the issue is, I'm too lazy to make a good mod (Although I've made one gun that shoots high velocity crabs out of a rocket launcher) that will do such a thing. Anyone mind telling me if it's possible to make rockets so that when the door is hit, you are not automatically backfired on?

I can actually remember when this question first popped into my head. My first day with the demo mode (Build 19, 20 something like that. Yeah, I'm new-ish.) I bought a heavy coalition trooper and a flak cannon. I was thinking, "OH FUDGE YES. I'M GOING TO ANNIHILATE THE ENEMY BASE LIKE NO TOMORROW."

So, I whistled for my jetpack and when it came near, the back of it said "Fwoosh" and I was up in the air! If anything, I could say this wasn't quite fair, but I thought "Naw, forget it. Yo home, To their brain!" I, pulled, up to the doors about 7 or 8 (Seconds later) And I yelled to the enemies "Yo homes, smell ya later!" I fired my cannon, I was finally there, and it backfired on me, I was greatly despaired.

This should be in mod making (I'm sure it will be very soon, thanks to a helpful mod), but I'll answer anyway.
The best way to destroy doors with rockets is to have the rocket gib some InhertitsVel = 0 heavy and sharp particles, like 100 or so with spread 3.14.
