Post subject:  HEAT warhead...

Im in the process of developing a series of different warheads for each of the missile launchers availible ingame atm.

However im having praticular trouble with my HEAT warhead variation.

Basicaly I want a warhead that trades explosive radius for bunkerbusting/AT capability. To this end, as the name suggests I want to produce a stream of particles that fire specificaly in the direction the missile was traveling in when it gibed.

The method im using at the moment is to have the gibbing particles inherit the velocity of the parent missile to produce the forward blast effect. However it seems that the gib velocity is often 0, this produces a rather unimpressive result.

Anyone know how I can produce a shaped charge effect?

Nothing definitive, but this topic covering the same concept has some idea you could try.

Would it be possible to make the round explode a few feet ahead of the target via sprites? If so, that would be the remedy to your problems.

You could also make a homing missile that airburst itself immediately with negative recoil. I think there was an old DarKlone mortar that did that.

To break down that forum thread that was linked by Azukki: just give the rocket itself a bounce of -1. For the most part that seems to "pull" the gibs into whatever it hit. Thats how my railgun and sniper rifle work.
