I was just wondering...I don't think I should make a new thread, but...

When I found this game I absolutely fell in love with it, and would be ecstatic to join the community, but it seems most of the tutorials I find are sparse. Is there some sort of 'hello world' project someone could come up with? It would make starting out a lot easier. I can barely make scenes, and when I do I just use other people's templates and change the picture. I don't know if lord tim's 'doors' was exactly intended for this purpose, but I'm sad to say it didn't teach enough, at least i don't think so. Maybe I'm just a hands on learner.

This is the wrong thread btw, should have been in mod making. The Cortex Command Wiki has some very helpful things, but you could also learn the way a lot of people did: make a copy of Base.rte, and then go in to the original and change little variables here and there. Start the game up, see what's different, and repeat.

I'm on it!

Edit: Also, yeah. This doesn't go in "Mods"

Easiest way is this, download a mod template, preferably just a gun, and dink with it. Change variables here or there. Squeal in pleasure as your shitty SMG fires super sharp bullets or has enough zoom range to see your own ass.

Move on to diggers, experiment with effects, particles, and glows. Mess around, don't worry about posting it on the forum.

Next actors, download an actor template and play with sprites and attachments, copy paste his helmet twice so he has 2 helmets. Play around.

Don't try to learn it all in one go, it'll come with time.

Aight. I hope this helps. Tell me if it doesn't, and what you'd like to be explained.

what does sharpness do? determines penetration? I though that was determined by mass and velocity?

It's determined by sharpness, mass and velocity.

You could have an elephant hit the ground really fast, but you wouldn't go very deep with it.
