Armor piercing, fin stabilised, discarding sabot
I'll need some assistance with this one. How would it work? Would the round need to be a TDExplosive in order to achieve the wanted results?

The sabot is a tracer.

...
What.
Foa you're dumb.
Uh, Prod, yeah, you'd probably have to use a TDExplosive if you wanted to do it right.
The problem is that with the current build, if it were a long projectile, it wouldn't rotate properly with the gun.
So your SABOT round would always look exactly the same; a flat line.

Could this problem be fixed with Lua once it comes out with the next build?

It's a resounding possibly.
On IRC, we mentioned the problem to Data, and he said he'd think about fixing it for future builds.
Seeing as how that was weeks ago, I hope it's in the next build.

Just as a point of curiousity, was it my imagination, or did I see a post dated Jan 2007 with "Build 21 should be out in a few weeks"?

Why couldn't a sabot be made with these results in the current build? Fin-stabalized isn't something that is actually needed at all, it could just be there for looks. If discarding means disappearing after hitting something I'm pretty sure tdexplosives already do that.

Discarding, means the the sabot pops off, which is totally possible to do. I've even done it.

Data is a busy guy, plus i will guarantee that was before he tried to add LUA. Think this way: The longer he takes to make B21, the better it will be. I do think it will be out before the end of the month though.

If discarding means disappearing after hitting something I'm pretty sure tdexplosives already do that. Because SABOT shells are long projectiles. Meaning they are not round. Meaning the game will not rotate them with your gun properly; so if you fire straight up your sabot will be horizontal.

Re: Armor piercing, fin stabilised, discarding sabot
So with lua you would make a round that basically at its peak velocity right before impact would gib the fins and the AP explosive round, then the round would go onto penetrate then explode a couple hundred milliseconds later?

Re: Armor piercing, fin stabilised, discarding sabot
You could make a one-shot one that would rotate correctly. Just have it as an attachment to the gun. Firing the gun would hit the SABOT in the back, which would break the attachment off AND could start a wound that would propel it in the direction it faces in.

A one-shot APFSDS would be kinda lame though. Also, it's not SABOT, it's sabot. It comes from le gay the French word for clog, if I recall correctly. It isn't an acronym.

APFSDSs don't explode. They're a kinetic energy weapon. Which means they just pierce things. It's like a giant arrow made of depleted uranium, traveling very fast.
