Edit: Sorry thought this was a mod and not someone needing help.

Are your mat files defined right? Once I told the game to use the FG texture for the FG, BG, and Mat. Now THAT was confusing. Things would pass through it seemingly randomly.

Didn't actually download it, busy atm. Just winging it off the top of my head.

Ok, tested, and Omni is spot on.

The MAT, FG, and BG use different bmp formats. All but "E" seem to have the right FG and BG, but your MAT's are all screwy.

To fix, you need to:
- Open an existing MAT .bmp from the base.rte
- Paste one of your MAT's into it
- Then save it as your MAT

You'll have to do this for each MAT bmp you have.

Understand?

Well that explains why I could never get my few bunker mods to work. Count you be more specific to how mat bmps need to be saved? Not RLE?

It really doesn't make sense how they do the CC bmps.
Essentially, always use a base.rte one for yours, because saving them in the right format is impossible without some stupid program. (to my knowledge)

CCommand uses indexed .bmp's. That is - the .bmp's use a specific palate of colors.

You're not going to get Paint (or other programs) to just save it in the right way. You need to paste your sprites into existing .bmp's from Cortex Command, then save them. That way, they'll have the same format as the original.

If someone knows a good tutorial for this, please comment!

I use paint to sprite, then I use graphics gale to save them in palette, if that doesn't turn out well, I'll quickly replace some colors, so even if the palette screws up your sprite it takes you like 2-3 mins to fix it.

Okay, let's assume for a minute I'm not stuck with paint. ;)

Get stuck with it then. Jesus T. Pinero, if you can't find paint or an equivalent program, then there's no hope for you.
Sudo aptget, or chant to Steve Jobs, or whatever your OS does to get a program.

I think you read my post wrong. I'm not stuck with paint. Lemme know how to index materials if you know and I'll work to figure out the rest I need .:)

Huh? What's an equivalent program to paint? Like, crayons?

For mats, I do what they're all suggesting. I open a mat file, change it to the size I need, then paste in the mat file I've made on another layer set in Photoshop, then Save As to a different name. No reason doing anything more complex when that does the job so well.
