Post Reducing the granularity of the game through .ini mods?
Hi there, I am new to CC.

Just wondering if there is anyway to decrease the resolution of the physics, i.e. make all the particles larger, by editing the ini files. I'd just like to try to make the game world a bit chunkier and maybe improve performance at the same time.

thanks,
eye

Don't do that.

Yes.

You can reduce the resolution of the game in Settings.ini and then make the game fullscreen. I think. Also try messing with "PixelsPerMeter = 20".

PixelsPerMeter is used in physics calculations.

The only real method of doing this is, as Tim said, making it lower ressolution, and fullscreen. Really, though, there's not going to be a huge benefit in performance.

I'll try pixelspermeter.

I suppose I thought the game would be more accessible if the particles the world are made out of were larger. Sometimes it feels a bit flaky when you are trying to dig a tunnel and get stuck between a few very small fragments of terrain that are hard to see due to tunnel already being quite cluttered. Also nice side effect would be that the physics would take less work to compute.

Another quick question: Do the gibs and other debris decay after a while?

many thanks,

No, nothing decays, though sometimes the weight of gibs crushes the gibs below it.

pixels per meter is used for physics calculations as grif said, keep it as it is, changing it just makes the camera move faster/slower the the actor, so if you change it your actor may be off screen most of the time.

It doesn't actually affect the camera at all, it affects things like particle speed and movement speed of actors (and the camera stays at the same speed).
