ok, so you know how sometime when CC crashes when loading a mod you just made, it doesnt work but the code is perfect?
this can usually be solved by just moving everything into a new .rte and it should work...
but ive done that at LEAST 3 times and tried putting it in a new .ini and CC still crashes on the .ini before it starts to read it.

anyone know another way to fix this other than the way i mentioned above? (all of the code is perfect btw)

I don't know why this happens it is a problem with the engine most definitely as it is random.

I fixed this by adding more blank lines to the .ini file. It works seldom although, you will have to try to add/remove and save the file until it loads.

Or alternatively rewrite the whole damn thing.

when you say more blank lines, how many should i put and where?

ok new problem, i changed some things around. but it still crashes, but doesnt even show up the abort screen message. everytime it gets to the .ini CC just closes.

Go to abortscreen.bmp in the cortex command folder, and look at the last line read. Search every line near that one.

it doesnt update the abort screen, it still shows up as the old one that i was getting earlier.
how do i know blah blah blah? i changed its name.

How do you know it's not getting an error on the same line?
And there's no way your code can be perfect if it isn't working.

Because i change the name of the .ini. and if the code wasnt perfect, it would give an error.

sometimes this happens on my old XP but it only does it once every now and then, and on a different mod each time.

this happens to me on DarKlones AAL and basically any random mod but only occasionally therfore it MUST be a problem with the engine (else it would happen every time) possibly not handling certain variables very well.

yea but this happens every time, at the same place, without an error and it DOES NOT make a new abortscreen.bmp

then that sounds like a problem with the code to me... hmmm... I remeber that ibce that happened to me so I split it into 2 .ini's and it worked (file too large)

BUG REPORT:

What you need to do is this:

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del, and close all those currently running Cortex Commands. They're using up all your RAM.

CC doesn't acutally end the process when it crashes.

...thats how i always close CC.
and if i see something unfamiliar running, i close that too.

and thats not my problem... i have 3GB of RAM anyways...



anyone know the solution to my problem yet?
