is it possible to make doors swing out and kill the the actors? or do they all open when the actor is x feet in front?

Doors only open for the player that placed them (you)
In order for them to be opened by the enemy, you have to give possession of the door to the enemy. That way they wont "open" for you, but will "open" for [and onto] your enemy.

[And yes, doors that collide with actors when moving will kill the actor... horribly. in fact, anything that moves and collides with an actor will kill them.]

So essentially would it be theoretically possible to construct a door that when placed belongs to your enemy, and its trigger range is 1.. when they step on it it catapults them across the screen at 100 velocity <.<

Yes, But due to glitchy door-actor collisions, The actor would either EXPLODE or have absolutely NOTHING done to it, Most likely explosion.

Just attach an emitter to the door.

I thought you meant doors that only opened when you stood on top.
