   |   Re: TreesOh. This guy. THIS is the guy that necro'ed all those mods, and made me think they got updated. Getting my hopes up, then crushing them. Anyways, on topic: Hey salt, are you still doing anything with this, when you get to it, or is it just a big argument thread now?

   |   Re: Treesrikimaru509 wrote: Basic example of the tree:not how its gonna look thoughYeah that won't work. You will encounter the third problem Prom illustrated when someone 'takes an axe to it'. The only way that trees can be done well is some complex Lua stuff. A way to do it far less well is to just make attachable on attachable until the base/root system object. You could also do some stuff with doors to make destructible branches you can stand on.This method will accomplish one goal and fail spectacularly otherwise.

   |   Re: TreesWhich is why everyone doubts your ability to complete this mod.
Again, we're not saying that you can't make trees like that, in that it is, yes, technically possible. However, it will not work in any way like what you want or like a tree would.

Your continued insistence that your idea is valid and original in the face of overwhelming contrary evidence by those with significantly greater knowledge of the game is just ridiculous.

   |   Re: TreesWell put. and with that, I believe, unless there is some other suggestions lingering out there, a lock will put a nice finish to this. Unless there are any other ideas?

   |   Re: TreesFirst mods can be hard to get over. That halo mod i gave you is a first mod. if you compare it to stuff like the darkstorm mod you can tell that mine sucks bawls. As a suggestion, i'd make a resprite and recode of an existing gun or actor or dropship or whatever, just to get a feel for how it works. then, once it's done, DON'T RELEASE IT. there is a BIG rule against releasing first mods because they generally suck. completely. PM me with your first attempts, then i'll give you some feedback so you can get past that first hurdle.

   |   Re: Trees -dragonxp's projectI'm sorry there's been some confusion, this is dragonxp's project not mine. He took it over shortly after I brought it up. I hope to update my project Sunday.
I changed the title to help clear things up.

   |   Re: Trees -dragonxp's projectAnd yet, you have absolutely no idea how the game works or even how to make a tree in the first place.

I would start with something proven and with tutorials, rather than something that could be described, at best, as "very expirimental", and at worst, "an exploding mass of green and brown lag".

   |   Re: Trees -dragonxp's projectBoth sides of the argument: stop posting this crap.rikimaru509, unless you can actually prove that you have any work done on this, there is no need to keep this argument up. Telling people that you aren't listening and that they shouldn't judge you isn't going to help - post a screenshot and people with shut right up.
Everyone else, leave the kid alone. He's said he's working on it, and that's all you should need to know. If he doesn't want to post screenshots, that's his choice, and if you think that he's incapable of making trees, that's your choice. However, you shouldn't be publicly flaming him because of it.
