On other forums I go to, the general consensus is that just making a poll so that the general public can vote for the winner is the best way to judge this sort of thing.
I mean, it's open to influence by popularity, but to be honest there is no method that isn't.

Assuming there's no exploits on the polls here that allow users to vote multiple times.

Popularity you say?

Then why can't we just make all the submitted content's authors anonymous until the end?

Also, I was perplexed in the first one when there was a set group of judges, though I didn't
disagree with them.

Now, enough talk. Who's going to make the Contest?

I will. I said I would.

Now, all of this sounds great. The images would be for easy bragging, with the Hall of Fame for solid proof. Anonymous listings will be great, contestants (limited to 10 by the poll) accepted by pm?
Data can pop in whenever and offer some swag if he feels, otherwise the bragging rights should be good.

In fact, I laid out the entire topic a couple days ago.
I figured two weeks from announcement of the contest to cutoff for entries, then a week for voting. Sound reasonable?
Right now, I'm thinking submission cutoff date will be the 30th of May, and voting cutoff day to be the 6th of June. Modder registration (anonymously kept slots in topic) done by pm any time up until the 30th deadline.

Anonymity is a great idea, although word might get out who did what, or there may be circumstantial evidence of it. (For example let's say I ask what the velocity orientation variable is and my entry is the only one that makes use of it.)

I don't like the idea of first come first serve, because then it either rushes people so they can even be included, without giving them a definite deadline, or it forces them to be ready to post at an exact time, and that would discriminate by conflicting with schedules in different amounts based on time zones.
You could make the deadline the same time of day for the user's time zone, and let in the ten who entered most shortly after their time zone's deadline, but then to announce the contest theme, you would have to PM everyone the theme at the time of day as per their time zone, and monitor that no one has changed their time zone.

I say make multiple threads for polls and then do a 2-stage tournament-style bracket poll and let in everyone that enters. The announcement and deadline would still be against some time zones, but not nearly as much.

Or an admin could just up the poll limit, if that's accessible to them and they would agree to it.

Yeah, but you can't really help that. It does reduce the chance of identification though.

How about this. I'll make the contest topic and we'll figure out later whether we can use one poll or many.

Okay, but it won't be a first come first serve thing though, right? I'd hate for all the entrants and entries to be rushed, as you simply wouldn't get as good of results.

And geographic discrimination is lame... Unless you're Ameri--- I'm joking.

Nope, all entries will be accepted up until the submission cutoff date, as long as they tell me via pm that they will be entering first, then send their submission.

Selected judges didn't work too well last time, so this time I think voting will do.
