Re: Sprite Help Thread
Thanks. What color can I use for shading the pie that doesn't look like condiments were slobbered all over it?

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Similar yet darker colors of the main color. Like, if you're trying to shade a white object, use colors like grey.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I know, I already tried that. I couldn't find any colors that were what I wanted because of the palette.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
The two main problems I can see... It has a very low contrast. The brightest color for the black is 90 lum and the darkest for the die is around 120 lum. It should go from a almost black color, like 60 lum, so an almost white color, like 200 lum. The size of the sprite itself prevents you from adding the details to make it really look like a pie.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
This is horrible. Absolutely horrible. I had no idea what to do. It's a very ugly tiny dropship. First attempt at spriting and modding.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Please just put them here in the shape of .PNGs, most people (me atleast) are too lazy to download a .rar when they really don't have to.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I really should get an idea of what I want before I start. Or a colourscheme that works. Or details. I just thought "Oh, a tiny dropship would be nice for picking up this actor without a jump. Let try making one, how hard can it be?". It can be hard.
Engines go on the top knobs. Doors go in the gap on the bottom.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
@Barnox, read up on basic technique
@Coop, excellent shading, but too small in relation to the rest of him.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I have no idea what Cont is talking about...
But the perspective of the actor is all wrong. It's his profile, his side view, even though in CC you view actors in a way that they're facing the player.
The left leg is really messed up. It's longer than the right leg, and some other issues that I think you might be able to figure out.
The shading could use some work. Shading isn't meant to look pretty. It's meant to show form and shape. (The prettyness of it all is a nasty side-effect.)
I can't interpret the shape of the actor at all in some places, and that's a major problem.
If you want something to look boxy, make it really angular and cut out any gradients. If you want something to seem round, make it a steady gradient from white to black. You get the idea.
I'd love to see another attempt at the actor.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
whoops i meant legs are too small.
Ehh I suppose you could define the shoulder, the bit under the chest, and legs better, but mostly it's pretty good. Definitely exceeding the standards of this forum. If you want to kick it up another notch, you should go really study the Crobos.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Although I had to heavily edit it, I used a paletted picture of a ball from online as a cannonball, but I need a hand cannon. I can't even find decent pictures of one. I'm afraid what I'm making is too big and I don't even know how to make it. In the sprite I'm giving you you'll see my best attempt the overall shape of the cannon, which may be too long or big or something, along with the cannonball for reference. I'm sorry I couldn't help much, but I'm awful at this. Could someone give me a sprite with a shape that would make sense and simple shading which I could improve myself? (though I may need help on the round end of the hand cannon) EDIT: Whoops, forgot the sprite, uploading in a second. EDIT: Here it is: Attachment:
