Do you know what .ini means? Are you asking for the purpose of learning to mod? In both cases you don't really need to know about this at all. Anyway, link to a mod using this method here.

Re: Pure ini homing missile
I miss the days of zalo's null atomgroups and attachable heads and all of the bloody hacky workarounds you needed to get something to do something that seemed like it should be simple but wasn't. I wish we still had that kind of originality on a week to week basis.

I wish I was around for all that. I think I came in on the tail end of it, just as the widelaser method was being pioneered.

Re: Pure ini homing missile
I just remember being stoked as anything when I figured out how to make bullets come out of more than one place on a weapon I missed a large chunk of that too, though, but I still remember ♪ (I've been listening to A Weekend in the City)

Re: Pure ini homing missile
Of course, nowadays a majority of the ingenuity is going to be via Lua; if something can't be done via conventional methods in .ini a majority of people are going to immediately turn to Lua as opposed to attempting to create a new method in .ini. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes it quite a bit more formidable to newcomers.

Y'all scrubs don't remember Alenth and Fearful_Ferret making impulse-detonated explosives, do you?
Spoilers: Build 9 didn't have a GibImpulseLimit variable.

Interesting, how would you create impulse Gib without gibimpulselimit?

It's funny how each build we get vars that replace the need for hacky workarounds. OrientsToVel, heck, the ability to fire AEmitters as useful particles. I suppose Lua is just those replacements taken to a logical conclusion, though now Dan needs to fix the Lua implementation to remove the need for hacks there too Did anyone else laugh when what, 5-8 months after B23 was released Dan answered cricket's question about attachables with "huh, scripts don't work on attachables? Should probs fix that".

If I remember right the response was closer to "it should work, I'll check" rather than "oh, should fix that".
