Ahh, But I beg to differ with both of you gents, as the perfect infinite ammo assault rifle is the HMWA master gear assault rifle with cryo rounds and (forget what you call those cooling rail thingies, but two of those), and the perfect anti-tank/anti-anything-you-will-ever-face-in-combat weapon is the HWMP master gear shotgun with (two of those accelerator things that overheat your gun really quick) and high explosive rounds.

One never overheats, and one kills anything in one shot (which is good because the damn thing overheats after one shot)

The shotty set up that way doesn't kill ♥♥♥♥ on Hardcore (hell, a regular Geth trooper took one to the face and didn't even flinch, barely lost one fifth of its health), and Cryo rounds suck. What you really need is Inferno Ammo with one Heat Dampener and one Scram Rail (hint: cryo ammo prevents overheating completely anyway, so those Heat Dampeners are just taking up upgrade space pointlessly).

I think(I haven't played in a while) that my setup is as follows: I use some VII or VIII sniper rifle, with 2 Scram Rails, and Hammerhead rounds. It overheats after every shot, basically, but it can kill an Armature in 1 or 2 shots.

Err, Ben, HE rounds do moar damage than Hammerheads, plus they also have splash damage. They're both also equally useless on insane when used in sniper rifles, since they'll send enemies soaring halfway across the map.

Oh, and for the overheat part, just make an instant auto reloading feature, that way it starts reloading (cooling down) the instant you stop firing.

Hrmm...Maybe it was HE rounds. Like I said, I haven't played in a while, so it might be the Explosives.

Edit: Wait, I remember. It was High Explosive VII, I think. I would just pop Assassinate, kill the biggest enemy, then switch to my pistol. I have maxed pistol and sniper skill, as an Infiltrator.
