Also, ITT, people who can't wait patiently for answers, get ridiculed by Macho Man himself, who is then himself attacked for simply saying what everyone who read the thread and didn't post was thinking. Hmmm, Yeah. But that's just some kind of muzzleflash emitter? viewtopic.php?f=61&t=14665the mod was crap, but look at the snipers code. it was scoped.

Ooook, as I can see this thread turned from asking for help to flaming each other. Lock'd, maybe we will clean it and unlock.
Cleaned and unlocked the thread. Try to behave. Please

Re: Laser sight, How to make it?
Ok, definitive list time. You have a choice of several methods. You can - Make a very very long Attachable that looks like a laser line
- Make an AEmitter that emits a straight line of particles
- Make an AEmitter that emits particles that explode into dots
- Use some fancy Lua type things to do the above two
- Likely a few others that I'm not thinking of
All of which can be explained in their own right. Which one are you interested in?

Re: Laser sight, How to make it?
Yes, it would generate lag. The absolute least laggy option is the Attachable, after that the Lua'd dot thing (I'm guessing there's some ray function that could do the trick), then the other options.
EDIT: As with any AEmitter, the lag produced would depend on how good of a line or dot you wanted to make. You could make it sparsely generated, but you'd experience a degradation of line integrity. Same with dot aiming veracity.

Hmm... how about a set of attached emitters that are at set intervals on an invisible line originating from the gun emitting very short lifetime particles with a tiny red glow? It shouldn't lag too much if you let it shimmer a little bit. Also, you could probably have the particles insta-delete when hitting terrain via lua, which I'm sure someone here would be willing to make for you.

It sounds pretty good, but still someone needs to help me with the Lua and the attached emitters, because I have no idea how to attach them or make them. No one made a good emitter tutorial...
