Deployable one way shields, like a trap shield ( "Marty help! I'm stuck in here!!!" ), and Shield nodes ( "Heh, job's easier, and more survivable, yet the shield only let's what's in, out. .." )

Re: Grif's making a faction!
Maybe have the ability to teleport a few feet infront. Would be good to get behind enemies as they are too lazy to turn around.

Re: Grif's making a faction!
Have automatic teleportation as self-defence on the weaker, annoying units (if you do any, and I for one would like to see less overpowered heavily armoured units). Add something interesting to an entry or exit wound, so that when it's shot, it teleports itself. O BTW you can get deal with the gore in one of two ways. Either a pink flash on teleporting that obscures all the little fleshy gibs, or you could do a bioshock and make them part of the fun.

Re: Grif's making a faction!
Two words: recursive portals.
Anyone who has played Portal has probably experienced this to some degree, whether they realize it or not. Just imagine two portal openings that lead to each other. Now, face them towards each other. Anything that goes in one can keep moving in that direction, and will just keep looping, out one in the other. They are effectively moving without actually going anywhere.
There's various uses of this. The simplest one has you setting them up vertically. Drop something in the middle, and it'll keep falling, continuously accelerated by gravity. Theoretically, with enough time, it'd reach the speed of light. If you suddenly move one of the portals, you'll end up with a deadly projectile (even before it hits the speed of light). Or it can be a trap. Somebody gets in there and accelerates, then you take away a portal and watch him splatter.
If you don't want to wait for gravity to accelerate something, you could set up a rather powerful gauss gun with this system. Just encircle the portals with a magnetic field generator, and put in a metal slug (a piece of metal, not the tank) and fire up the generator. The portal loop will act as an infinite "barrel" in which it can accelerate forever. You could get ridiculous velocities in a very short amount of time this way. Heck, you could even set it up so you can choose how long you want to "charge" it, with the only limit being the speed of light.
Such a weapon would be nuts.

Re: Grif's making a faction!
It'd probably crash the game though seeing as certain objects going TOO fast can crash CC.

The acceleration of gravity is counteracted by air resistance, with more resistance the faster you move, so at a certain point you reach a "terminal velocity" where you stop accelerating and fall at a constant rate. In CC though, I am not sure if that is a factor, but then again, in CC if you go a certain speed you just disappear, so speed of light is definitely not an option :/

A Gun that teleports crabs inside the enemy
jk
How about an assualt rifle/smg type weapon that teleports air into the targets arteries? at first it seems to do nothing but make an odd inflating sound but then a hole appears wherever it got hit with an awsome blood splatter effect, also possibl knocking there weapon out of their hands if it hits the arm,not so effective on arrmored targets though.

In CC though, I am not sure if that is a factor, but then again, in CC if you go a certain speed you just disappear, so speed of light is definitely not an option :/ Guys, guys, I was just talking about the idea in regards to reality. I'm a modder. I KNOW stuff disappears when it reaches a velocity of 500. I wasn't ACTUALLY suggesting something reach the speed of light in CC. Thats just stupid. And yeah, I thought about air resistance, but I didn't really know how much it would affect it, nor did I feel like looking it up at the time (I was at work). The point I was trying to make is that you can make an infinite acceleration chamber, which is an excuse to get things to travel at pretty much whatever speed you want. And you don't actually have to work out the physics of it in CC. Just make a gun that fires really fast bullets and say that the internal mechanisms are causing it. And if you dropped a coalition soldier into a loop like that, while he certainly wouldn't reach the speed of light, or anything close to it, he would reach a fatal velocity rather quickly. Though I suppose in CC you can just jetpack your way out of that situation. So maybe that isn't such a a great trap. I guess the idea would be useful in a Portal-like situation, where you have moveable objects lying around, and some contraption that lets you create portals whenever you want. Instant kinetic energy cannon, even if speeds are low. Just as long as the objects are heavy enough.

I have another idea. How about a gun that fires a portal the eats all things it touches?

Re: Grif's making a faction!
Man, I just thought of something else in regards to recursive portals: it'd qualify as a perpetual motion machine, if you used the gravity-acceleration version. That could be a great way to explain power sources, if you ever need to.

Not to spoil breaking physics in this thread or anything, but due to physics, the energy needed to make such a portal would cost more than the energy gained by harvesting the falling object.

Well, if you can make hold-themselves-open portals like in Portal, maybe not...

So what you're saying is instead of actually putting effort toward thinking up new and unique ideas for mods, you're gonna leech off the community and make something meaningless and lame. gentleman. I was flaming him
