First of all, how are you trying to install the mods?

No need to tell us you are a newb. We can tell by the thread name.

If you have a file, eg Something.rte.zip or Something.rte.rar (7z, etc. basically anything past the .rte) it's compressed and you'll have to extract it. For Zip files, double click it and it'll extract, for rar or 7z you'll have to download some kind of extra unarchiving program (I use The Unarchiver).
After that, you should have a folder named Something.rte. Place that whole folder into the Cortex Command.app/Contents/Resources folder alongside the other ones.

If you're already at that point, make sure that the Something.rte folder doesn't just contain another Something.rte folder. If it does, your decompressing software has added another folder, and you should place the internal folder into the Resources folder (For clarity, the .rte folder you are adding should contain, at the VERY least, an Index.ini file.).

Hope that's clear enough, post again if you need any more help.

Ok I unzipped mod put .rte file in resources folder next to everything else I get this error:

Abortion in file /Users/admin/Development/CortexCommand/cortex/System/ContentFile.cpp, line 472, because:

Failed to load datafile object with following path and name:

RGA.rte/Devices/Weapons/x80Fire.wav

The last frame has been dumped to 'abortscreen.bmp'

Double-check that error message, are you sure it says RGA.rte? I downloaded the file from the topic and tried running it, gave me the same type of error but with the path Shadow Echelon.rte/Devices/Cerberus/x80Fire.wav

If it says ^^^that path, then the change is simple, go into RGA.rte/Devices/Weapons and open up Machineguns.ini with text edit (or your favourite other text editor). Do a search (Command + F) for Shadow Echelon.rte and change the path there from
"Shadow Echelon.rte/Devices/Cerberus/x80Fire.wav" to "RGA.rte/Devices/Weapons/x80Fire.wav". There should only be the one case in this mod.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
EXTRA INFORMATION FOLLOWS
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If that ISN'T the case, then you've stumbled onto one of the extra annoyances us mac users have to deal with: Some sound files which work fine in the windows version cause errors on the mac version. I don't know what causes it or the BEST way to deal with it, but one way is to open the .wav file with some kind of audio editor (I use Audacity, there are other options available I'm sure) and resample the file to 44100 Hz. There's a bit of fiddling required, and it's not really the most fun thing to do in large mods when half the files give errors (first hand experience =_=) but you need to do that to get it working. Or you could remove the sound files and comment out the references in files, but again that's a pain.

For further information, another annoyance you'll probably come across with a few mods is, for example, you'll get an error saying something along the lines of

Failed to load datafile, blah blah blah, path and name:

Something.rte\Devices\Weapons\Something

And this is because, while windows seems happy enough using either forward (/) or back (\) slashes for paths,
Mac OS (And I'm pretty sure Linux as well) Must have Forward Slashes (/) for paths.
Fixing this is also a pain if there are lots of files with errors, but the best way is to open up the ini files then do a search and replace of \ with /.

As before, any more problems, post again.
