Sounds can easily be found or made using free tools. I use Findsounds.com to get my sounds, and Audacity to edit them.

Press play, it'll open a window with the media player, right click on it and select "save video as".

This could be useful to me too.

I need a spinup and spindown sound that sounds more "primitive" and a firing sound like that of an autocannon.

Are there any other sources of free sounds? This one seems a bit lacking in what I need.

I just search: **** sound effects on Google, and browse until I find a good site.
If you're looking for a cool spinup / spindown effect, I think Gears of War has a cool one for thier chain gun.

Just as a side note, sfxr can be very useful for generating simple sound effects, including explosions and gunshots. Sometimes but not always you can generate sounds which will suit needs and also fit well with other CC sounds, though most of them come out more... arcade-like than would suit. Still worth a try, in my opinion.
