Making an explosion realistic
Okay, so I'm on my second mod, and I'm almost finished. It's a plasma cannon. It's main purpose was to teach me how to use glows well.
It is a cannon that shoots plasma and makes an explosion when the ball of plasma hits. It's a grenade launcher modified so heavily that almost none of the grenade launcher is left.
It has slick sprites and great effects with glow.
However, the explosion doesn't look very realistic, and neither is its behavior realistic.
The explosion looks like a bunch of glowy blobs flying everywhere, and it just rapes everything and puts lines in the turf.
How can I make the explosion appear realistic? I don't want to use fire, only plasma-y stuff (I am using blue glows).

Re: Making an explosion realistic
It is actually fairly difficult to make explosions look realistic. As for the terrain-rape stars, you can attenuate that by using a larger amount of weaker particles in terms of speed, sharpness and mass.

Okay, I've tweaked and tweaked and finally make an explosion satisfactory to me.
