Post Question for Abdul Ahazred or any other advanced scripter:
Hello, general population of modders!

I was working on a space marine with a heavy bolter (complete with a link from the gun to the back pack) and I noticed that the chain looked like crap. I then had an insight into how to get around this problem: make a code that uses many very short chain links to make a chain that attaches itself to two places on the actor.
(what I'm going for: Image )

Only problem is, I don't know how to do that, because so far the best I have is a free dangling chain that crumbles whenever the actor dies.

Please post below for any insight or code as to how to overcome this problem. If I use your script/take your advice, you will be credited in any future mod releases.

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure Abdul's Hammership mod would help as it is the closest thing I've seen to "rope physics" yet.

Personally though I think that unless the actor is rather large (Behemoth-sized) that it's far too much work to make a chain for just a tiny actor, where a sprite would look just as good if done correctly (think Darkstorm Oni).

Yes, and I did base my prototype code off of the hammership script, but I see your point in making the chain for a bigger actor (speak of the devil, I'm making this:

)

So my only problem now is to get Abdul's script to attach the MOSR chain to both ends to a parent actor instead of just one end.

I'm no advance scripter, but could you attach the other end of the chain to an attachment on the parent actor? I think it could work.

Not really. That's not quite how the game works.

Here is a proof of concept. As you can see it will not be all that visible, since the link will always be drawn behind the actor. This still needs a lot of work and the code is kind of shitty, but I have uploaded it here so you can play with it. The code requires a special actor that is simply called 'Heavy Bolter'.

Free for anyone to use etc.
