 How do you make glows?

Post How do you make glows?
I've looked around a bit, but i couldnt find anything on how to make custom glows.

does anyone have a good method of doing so?

Create a normal 24 bit bitmap, color it black, then color in what you want the glow to look like. The darker the color, the less opaque it'll be.
